My New Year’s resolution of 2017 was to create art once again, and I’ve finally kept my promise. By day, I’m an Oncology RN, by weekend, I’m an artist.
In addition to being a nurse, I also received my Bachelor of Science in Interior Design, from Florida State University, and enjoyed designing residential and commercial spaces for ten years. I often rely upon the tutelage I received in design school when planning a painting, as the elements and principles of design for a 3-dimensional space can also be applied to a canvas. I love to play with repetition of form, color, and pattern, and try to create harmony in every piece I produce.
My nursing career has awakened my philosophical side, as I deal with life, death, and time. Why are we here? Where do we go? How much time is left? This awareness is what led me to get back into painting, as we only get a finite amount of time to make our mark in life. I find inspiration in the works of Frida Kahlo, Salvatore Dali, Marc Chagall, Gustav Klimt, and Botticelli.
